MyKeePass 1.0

MyKeePass is an iPhone application that helps users manage their passwords or other secret information. It is compatible with the very popular open source application KeePass and KeePassX, but only supports KeePass 1.0 KDB files (.KDB) and AES-256.

Password files can be imported from or exported to user's desktop machines, and users can use MyKeePass to search, delete, insert, modify password entries. This application is straightforward to use and very stable.

This application will be available in Apple Store soon.

  1. Thank you for this application, I waited for it for a long time now, ... (I was previously interested by iKeepass but it don't seems to come in Europe).

Do you preview to have webdav support, so I can automate the synchronisation with my password store on my computer?

  2. Thanks a lot. I also waited for iKeepass but no luck in uk.
This app works well but it NEEDS copy and paste feature!

  3. Thanks all for your comments and feature requests.

    1. So far, I have no plan for the webdav support. As development resources are quite limited, I will first do reseach on how difficult it is to implement the feature.

    2. Copy & Paste will be added next update as I see there are some users asking for that.

  4. Hi
Just bought your app. Very nice - thanks!
One Bug: Program crashes when you try to delete an entry without switching to edit-mode ("delete" is shown when you wipe from right to left). Nothing worse.

  6. Dear author,

Thank you for the app (yeah, if you only got $1 each time somebody said that :) ). Could you please make it possible to import a .kbd from a specified URL (also, the possibility to store URLs)?

    Cheers

  7. Second the URL based import/export. Need multi-user access!

  8. I have purchased MyKeePass in the hope an upgrade will have the most basic support for viewing KeePass 2 files soon. :)

  9. MyKeepass 1.0 is an excellent first version. I previously purchased iKeepass, but have been extremely disappointed in it. So, keep up the good work and see if the original developers will endorse your app. Their homepage is http://www.keepass.info.

  10. How to delete a data file that you have previously uploded to the iPod using the IP:PORT method you use for installing data files? I have uploaded a KeePass v2.0 data file that can not been seen by the application and I would like to remove this data file from the iPod. How? Thanks

  11. Hello,
Unfortunately, I cannot think of a simple way to delete the keepass v2.0 data file. My fault. I will fix it next version. Sorry about that.

  12. Dear Author,

Thank you very much for the nice app!
I was waiting for iKeePass but no chance in Japan.

I hope MyKeePass will support KeePass v2.0 DB so that I can sync with the KeeFox.

    Thanks!

  13. Is there any way to make use of DropBox files? There is already an automatically syncronized copy of the KeyPass database on my iPod - would be nice to use that copy so that I do not have to manually update the file.

  14. The first time I imported a Keepass file into MyKeePass everything was sorted. The next import I noticed new entries were at the bottom and not sorted. I use categories (the standards from Keepass, in this case "internet"). Is there anyway to sort these?

  15. Hello Vic,
Unfortunately, so far, there is no way to sort the entries :(
I may sort it next release.

  16. I was so close of getting mykeepass to sync with my .kdb database saved in Dropbox (on the iphone).

Here is what I tried doing (assuming you can ssh to the phone or be able to browse the directory tree)

    1) find where the password database is expected to be by "mykeepass", for example, in the Applications folder type:
$ find . -name *keepass* -print
in my case, the databases are stored under:
    /var/mobile/Applications/EDADE487-0956-43E6-8CAD-1550872FA3B7/Documents/Passwords
    2) Then, just create the a link to the database in Dropbox directory, as following:
    $ ln /private/var/mobile/Applications/EF489325-23F9-46E0-8C0E-C2E2436E7010/Library/Caches/CachedFiles/keepass/pass.kdb /var/mobile/Applications/EDADE487-0956-43E6-8CAD-1550872FA3B7/Documents/Passwords/

Here is where it fails, neither symbolic or hard links work...

mykeepass complains that: "The file format is not supported"

However, the database works if its copied directly instead of linking it.

If you could let the user point at the directory where the database is found, then the problem would be solved.

Anyway, I'm stuck like this in the meantime, since any password manager is useless unless you can synchronize it, and it seemed like Dropbox could do the trick, as I've done it with the Jailbroken app "JBiKeePass" (BigBoss repo on Cydia)

  17. MyKeePass works very nicely. One feature add that would be useful is to detect when connected on a VPN and treat that as though haveing WiFI connectivity. At my office, my iphone doesn't work on wifi, but I can go over 3G and connect to VPN. At this point, my iphone has an IP address that is just as good as a direct WiFI connection.

  18. I, also, have mistakenly uploaded a KDBX and cannot delete it with the app. Is there another app that would see the file and allow me to delete it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi, there might be some desktop application that can access/delete the kdbx file. But I suggest you wait for the next version, which will recognize the KDBX file.
    I am sorry about that.

  20. I second the Dropbox feature!

  27. Mykeepass doesnt work under iOS4. And it disappeared from Appstore! What is going on there? Hope for an update...

  28. It works only loading kdb from web.

    Please say you will update!

  29. Cannot upload kdb from desktop on ios 4.0, iPhone not excepting connections. When will there be an update?

  30. I just noticed that this app is no longer in the App Store and now that I'm on iOS 4, I can no longer "Upload from Desktop". Please, please, please update this app. I'd be willing to pitch in a few dollars if it would help. PLEASE!!!

  31. Looks like there is no support for this product anymore. We'll have to find something else. I use KeyPassX for my Macs and, of course, it was compatible w/ MyKeyPass.

Don't know if this site (http://keepass.info/download.html) is compatible with KeyPassX. They do seem to have a mobile application. its possible to do an export and import into the other app if required.

Looks like that's our only option now.

  32. It looks like version 1.11 is on it's way and is compatible with iOS 4:

    http://mykeepass.wikidot.com/

On 07/08/10, he wrote "Sorry all for not updating this forum for a long time. I removed MyKeePass from Apple Store because it doesn't support IOS4. I have submitted a fix to fix this issue, and you will get the update in a few days.".

    I CAN'T WAIT! :-)

  33. Version 1.12 came out today!

I downloaded it from iTunes & installed it on my new iPhone 4 running iOS 4. I can confirm that the "Upload From Desktop" feature works again. HOORAY!!!

One odd thing I did notice is that even though the version is 1.12, it shows version 1.11 when you launch the app on your iPhone and select "About".

Many thanks to the author of this fine app! This blows away the iKeePass app that someone else wrote. They're not even in the same league.

  34. Is there a way to go to a URL in database and then return to MyKeePass without having to re-enter database password? This would be really handy. Also does MyKeePass support key files? Thanks
    Pete

  35. I agree with the previous request. I just installed myKeePass. Thus far, everything seems okay, except for having to constantly re-enter my Keepass password. There should be a way to click on a Keepass URL to open a Web site, and then return to myKeepass a few seconds later without having to re-enter my password. Or maybe this is possible even now. Please let us know if it is. Maybe I am using the application incorrectly.
